Romina Ronquillo
Second Grade Head Teacher, Lower School Assistant Teacher Coordinator
Romina Ronquillo received her multiple subject teaching credential from Holy Names University and a B.A. in liberal studies with a minor in children’s theater and dance from California State University, East Bay. Romina has had training in both early childhood development and in theater and creative dance for children. Before joining Black Pine Circle School, she taught preschool-aged children at Treehouse Preschool and Kindergarten in Oakland. Romina began her career at BPC as the dance/movement teacher for kindergarten through third grade and the first grade assistant. She moved on to become the third grade head teacher before becoming the kindergarten head teacher from 2007 to 2019. Besides teaching, dancing is her passion in life – she has performed in various community theaters and choreographed for children’s musical theater in the Bay Area. She enjoys taking dance classes, traveling, going to the beach, eating great food, watching live theater and dance, walking her dog, Harley, and spending time with her 17-year-old son, Ezra. Romina joined the Black Pine Circle School faculty in 2000.
Why I Work with Children
Children give me so much joy and I live for the moments when I see understanding of new concepts envelop them. That is where my fulfillment lies.
A Favorite Book
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. It is such a sweet story that teaches us the lesson of selflessness and unconditional love.
